About Our Guide
Dr. Heather Hinam
Heather will be your guide on most trips. She brings a passion for teaching and over 10 years of guiding experience to compliment her Ph.D. in ecology. A seasonal resident of the Hecla-Grindstone area for the last thirty years, she is an expert in the natural history and behavior of boreal birds and mammals.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Heather grew up, like many people, spending summers on the lake. She passed a lot of her time mucking around in the forest and marshes surrounding her family cottage, learning all she could about the plants and animals that crossed her path.
In addition to developing and guiding tours with Hecla Oasis Resort, she is also developing a long-tern monitoring program for raptors in Manitoba's Interlake region.
